Switzerland, Basel: Roche bikes

I recently had the opportunity to borrow a bike from Roche, the Swiss Pharma company. They have a large campus of c.12k people in Basel, Switzerland, and a pool of bicycles and e-bikes for employees and visitors to borrow.

(not me…)

Branded in company colours and logo, the bike was in good working order, clean, well maintained and provided a fun little ride into town.

(Also not me 🤣)

In general, Basel is quite a good city for cycling, and you see a lot of cycle commuting here.

Roche has a number of production sites around the world, many of which have onsite bicycle facilities and maintenance teams.

While not many employers are large enough to justify the management of a pool of bicycles, it’s a great initiative that helps make a positive contribution to society and local transport infrastructure.

This is pretty similar to Google and no doubt other employers with large campuses in different locations around the world.

It certainly made my day!

So, what do you think?
